Meet our newest team member, Alyana Stoneman!
("Here I am with my Fiancé at the Sofitel Spiral Buffet in the Philippines in January 2020 (just before COVID!). This was the day after he asked me to marry him!")
Alyana has joined Fuse as a Recruitment Resourcer in our Melbourne office to support the Insurance and Wealth Management sector. We have no doubt that she will be a valuable asset to our team and can't wait to know more about her!
Ideally, how would you spend your birthday?
Ideally, I love to celebrate my birthday in a secluded AirBnB, either near a beach, walking tracks or rainforest. There is nothing better than getting some great friends together, going on a road trip for a long weekend and cooking up a storm!
Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Evan Rachel Wood. Admittedly she is my celebrity crush, but also an amazing empowering woman. She finds a great balance between being a serious character, but also a quirky, fun and down to earth one too. I feel that she resonates most closely with the type of person I am.
What was your first job?
I got my first job when I was 15, working at Hungry Jacks. It was by far the best fun, until you accidentally forgot the cheese on someone’s whopper!
Was there a career setback you faced which you later realised was an advantage?
After I had graduated high-school I struggled with finding the right path for me. I always felt that I had not achieved anything from my many years in retail. Looking back on that now, finishing a Diploma and moving from Retail to Recruitment, I gained some valuable life experience which is something I find extremely valuable and a great advantage.
What career advice would you give to your younger self?
It is okay to side-step and go into roles which may not be your long-term goal or direct career path. Every job will give you valuable experience and transferrable skills for the next step in your career.
What is the best career advice you have ever heard?
Work smarter, not harder. Finding more strategic, innovative and effective ways of execution within your role not only makes your job easier, but get’s the job done efficiently.
What is your favourite part of the workday?
My favourite part of the workday is the mornings as shocking as that sounds. I love seeing everyone’s faces when I come in, having a giggle or a chat before we have to get stuck into our days.
