Meet Recruitment Resourcer, Emma Henschke! Emma joins our Adelaide team recruiting for manufacturing roles across South Australia. Emma talks about how she started in recruitment, her motivations and speaks kind words about her team!
Where is the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
Japan! I love everything about the culture, the food and really want to experience it first hand. My fiancé and I were supposed to go for our honeymoon after we get married in September but I suppose it will stay a dream until Covid restrictions lift!
What activity instantly calms you?
It sounds dorky but I love to do diamond art! I do it with my across-the-road neighbour usually on a Friday or Saturday night and it’s just good to unwind and just focus on something that’s peaceful after a long week.
How did you get into recruitment and how long have you been in the industry?
It’s a funny story this one. I was recruited by a previous recruiter at Fuse to work as a production worker for one of our clients. Two months in I got a phone call from her asking if I would consider recruitment. I said sure, but is there a position available? She told me yes there was but it was because she was leaving! I was devasted because she was amazing, but also so thankful for the opportunity. Prior to joining Fuse as a candidate. I had 6 months previous experience working for Services Australia in the Youth and Students space, but also had experience with jobseekers as well which is where in some sense I’ve gained a skill set in finding candidates.
How do you pick yourself back up after making a mistake at work?
I will always take ownership of any mistakes I’ve made. I like to make sure I understand the mistake I made how or why it was done, and take on board what to do to not make that mistake again.
How do you motivate yourself in your career?
My family are what motivate me in my career. My fiancée and I have 4 kids combined and I want to make them proud. I want them to see and understand a good work ethic and see that Mum can kick goals just as much as they can.
What do you remember most about your first job?
I was 14, working in a little café in my local shopping centre. It was my first shift and I was asked to take a coffee out to a customer. He was wearing a lovely suit and there was a little boy playing on the floor beside his mother at the next table. He pushed a toy car and it flew under my feet.. well next thing I knew I was on the floor and the man in his nice suit was wearing his coffee! I felt so awful but was glad he was so good about it!
What is one work-related thing you want to accomplish in the next year?
I would love to climb the ladder with Fuse and become a junior account manager over the next 12 months.
When will you know you've "made it"?
Honestly, I feel like I have already just by being apart of such a fantastic team. I want Fuse to be my forever job!
