Our client is an industry leader in the supply chain of fresh produce. Due to a recent restructure, they are currently recruiting for a Financial and Commercial Manager for an 8 month fixed term contract.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group General Manager of Finance, this role will be responsible for providing leadership to the Finance and Commercial operations. This role will be required to strategically plan and guide the profitable development of the company and be responsible for administrative, financial and risk management operations. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategy and Planning
    • Assist in formulating group direction
    • Participate in key decisions
    • Provide financial and business partnering solutions
    • Lead, plan and monitor the implementation of business plans
    • Provide information about future opportunities
    • Develop performance measures that support the strategic direction
  • Finance operations and information
    • Oversee financial operations
    • Manage capital request and budgeting processes
    • Maintain systems and processes to manage cashflow
    • Implement operational best practice
    • Manage accounting, legal and tax in alignment with requirements
    • Oversee employee benefit plans
    • Report financial results
    • Responsible for producing accurate financial information as required to meet reporting requirements and deadlines
  • Risk Management
    • Monitor and report on all legal issues
    • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
    • Prepare and implement audits
  • Compliance Management
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
    • Report issues to the audit committee
    • Ensure record keeping meets requirements
  • Funding
    • Monitoring cash balances and forecasts
    • Work with the treasury to maximise cash management
    • Liaise with the CFO for debt and equity financing
  • Team Leadership
    • Ensure performance, productivity and engagement of employees
    • Provide coaching, supervision and support
    • Build cohesive teams that understand and delivers growth and profitability
    • Ensure appropriate training is provided

Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years team leadership experience
  • A background in the fresh produce, FMCG or manufacturing industry would be an advantage
  • Extensive knowledge and skill in the MS environment and packages
  • Strong technical competence in financial control and management accounting meeting the standards required by our external auditors
  • Proven problem solving and sound commercial recommendations experience in developing and articulating finance solutions to key customer requirements
  • Works well in a fast paced, complex and 'stretching' environment
  • Develop and maintain high quality relationships with all business partners and stakeholders
  • Excellent written/oral communication ability, time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement, change management and system implementation
  • Experience in working and co-operating as part of a senior team
  • Disciplined and customer service oriented
  • Able to learn, change and grow professionally
  • Awareness of health and safety rules and regulations
