Job Description

Based in Cameron Park, Newcastle NSW you will be responsible for performing safe and efficient maintenance and repairs on processing equipment and plant, including but not limited to crushers, shredders, granulators and sorters. The Maintenance Technician will ensure all necessary maintenance is performed and documented and all safe work procedures are followed to achieve this.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Foster and promote safe working behaviours and display a commitment to safety standards and OHS requirements
  • Perform plant maintenance per schedule and making repairs as directed on the plant operations and all the support equipment
  • Perform welding and metal fabrication
  • Optimize equipment assets under the guidance from the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Assist in determining proper machinery rebuild or repair techniques keeping critical equipment downtime to an absolute minimum
  • Assist during installation of new equipment or additional equipment to current processes
  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance assigned tasks
  • Compliance with all operating safety guidelines and training requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the facilities including lighting, plumbing and mechanical/electrical systems
  • Clean plant equipment and work areas
  • Perform other duties as per business requirements

Skills / Experience

  • Fitter and turner trade certified or other relevant trade qualifications
  • Experience working with maintenance and repair with fixed and mobile plant equipment
  • Possess a good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to take responsibility and follow a preventative maintenance program
  • Understanding of safe work practices and manual handling
  • Be motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Have the ability to work unsupervised
  • Physically fit to handle repetitive heavy lifting
  • Be comfortable working at heights and/or confined spaces wearing the required safety PPE
  • Be available to work additional shifts or overtime as required by the business

Licences / Certifications

  • Forklift licence
  • S Permit (desirable)
  • Elevated Platform (Scissor Lift)
  • Boom Lift licence (desirable)
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment medical
