Job Description

Our client is an established corporate broker with a strong focus on construction, mining and related industries. As part of their ongoing growth and development they're looking to expand their operation in to Melbourne and require a State Manager to head up their new operation. An experienced senior broker with experience in the Construction and Engineering market would be an ideal candidate and someone with business development experience would be optimal for the role.

The Need to Know:

  • Capable of managing an existing portfolio of corporate accounts
  • Recruit, hire and manage several direct reports over time
  • Provide risk management advice and comprehensive insurance knowledge to clients
  • Support and drive new business opportunities and develop new client networks
  • Establish key strategic relationships with local insurers
  • Work closely with the Managing Director
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key corporate clients
  • Maintain industry/market knowledge
  • Provide an outstanding and efficient service to all customers

The Must Haves:

  • Tier 1 Broking qualification (essential)
  • 7-10 years insurance broking experience (essential)
  • Proven competency and background with Construction insurance (essential)
  • Right to work in Australia (essential)
  • Tertiary qualifications in business-related discipline (preferred)
  • Strong sense of business acumen
  • Staff management capabilities
  • Motivated, driven and capable of working autonomously
  • Strong general insurance product knowledge
  • The ability to proactively manage an existing portfolio
  • Proven Sales and Business Development capabilities
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Personable, proactive and customer focused
